In 2006, with Shady Records getting ready for Eminem Presents: The Re-Up, MICK (formerly Mick Boogie) built a promo tape to run ahead of it, hosted by Eminem and The Alchemist. That tape, The Pre-Up, turns 20 this month.
It plays like a snapshot of the Shady circle that fall. Eminem, 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, and Cashis trade verses on "You Don't Know," Stat Quo, Obie Trice, and Bobby Creekwater get their spots, and Prodigy links up with The Alchemist on "Mac 10 Handles" and "This Is America," which Eminem produced. All 32 tracks now stream free in the archive.
From the Crate
The DJ behind that tape also curated Dillagence, Busta Rhymes over unreleased J Dilla beats, and the sequel is open for pre-order now. It ships November 27.
Dillagence II (2xLP): $39.98 | Dillagence II (CD): $15.98
One More Thing
The Alchemist's fingerprints run through the shop too. Start with Continuance, his CD with Curren$y, or Goldfish, with Hit-Boy, and if you want the Eminem record that came four years before this tape, The Eminem Show is on CD for $11.99.
